Meta plans to sell Meta VR Glasses in spring 2027 for $1,299.99 in the United States. Announced September 23, the device separates the glasses from a tethered puck containing the processor, battery and storage. This is an upcoming product, not a headset launching this week.

Read the weight claim carefully

Meta puts the glasses at about 100 grams. That figure should not be confused with the weight of everything a person needs to carry: the separate puck is part of the system. The company also claims up to three hours of continuous high-resolution media playback.

Moving components away from the face changes where the load sits, which could make a meaningful difference in use. It also introduces a cable and another object to manage. Neither observation proves the product will be comfortable for a particular person.

What still needs a real-world test

The important questions include how the glasses fit, whether the tether gets in the way and how the battery performs across different tasks. A media-playback estimate should not be read as a promise for every workload. Choosense has not tested the device.

Our takeaway is about the design trade-off, not a buying verdict. A smaller face-worn unit can be appealing without making the entire system disappear. Anyone comparing it with an all-in-one headset should consider the complete setup, software needs and the final shipping product rather than a single specification.
