Steam Frame reservations now lead to one of two broad order-email windows: by December or sometime in 2027. Valve says signed-in customers with a reservation can see which window applies on the Steam Frame product page.
That is not a delivery promise. The notice describes when Valve expects to send the email that unlocks a purchase, and buyers then have 72 hours to complete it. People placed in the 2027 group are due more detailed timing information by January, but Valve does not publish a U.S.-specific month or shipment estimate.
Reservation, waitlist and ownership are different states
A reservation already has a place in a regional queue. A waitlist entry does not: Valve says it will contact waitlisted customers only if space opens, in the order they joined. Because each region has a separate queue, movement elsewhere does not establish faster availability in the United States.
For an existing reservation, the practical action is to sign in to Steam, open the product page and record the displayed window. For a waitlist entry, there is no official shortcut or fixed date to plan around. Neither status should be treated as proof that a headset will arrive for the holidays.
The battery number is a claim, not a new runtime
Valve also summarizes several software updates shipped since Steam Frame launched. It says power-efficiency work can extend battery life during both streaming and local play by up to 12%, with results varying by frame rate and content. The company does not turn that percentage into a universal number of minutes, and Choosense has not measured it.
The listed streaming changes improve color clarity and audio reliability, address Error 17 connection failures and fix wireless-adapter problems that affected some countries. Manual adapter setup now shows the correct Wi-Fi channels by region. These are release-note claims, not proof that every network or image-quality problem is resolved.
One useful opening for accessories
Valve has also released Steam Frame CAD files and electrical-interface information for non-commercial use. Commercial projects require following the repository’s contact instructions. That gives accessory makers dimensions and interface details without turning the files into a blanket commercial license.
Together, the queue notice and software work show two different parts of the launch: demand has pushed some purchase opportunities into 2027, while early owners are still receiving power, streaming and connectivity fixes. The update improves the ownership case on paper; it does not make a waitlist entry equivalent to stock.

Valve’s October 9 Steam Hardware notice, the official SteamOS 0.4 page and two independent Road to VR reports were checked October 12, 2026. Order timing refers to the email that allows a purchase, not delivery. Up to 12% is Valve’s claim and varies with content and frame rate; Choosense did not test the headset. Valve publishes separate regional queues but no U.S.-specific date, queue length, inventory figure or delivery estimate in the checked notice.
